Reality: 15- 20,000 votes is all it takes.

Here is the sad part of Dayton politics. Even with big bucks spent in the Turner races, with high visibility and 40K total voters, the commission winners rarely get more than 22K votes- and that modern record belongs to Joey Williams.

It’s rare that an un-endorsed candidate makes it in a general election. Or that an incumbent loses. That’s the nature of Dayton politics. Dean Lovelace only won because Mark Henry stepped down, and Dean switched races to run in the special election.

Abner Orick only won in special elections.

I’m up against the political machine, and I know it. People are afraid to take a stand with the long shot- unless, they are playing both sides to cover their bets. It was refreshing to sit with people who know me tonight at the neighborhood porch and patio party- as opposed to people who think they do through the media, or even this site.

So, the question is- are you going to sit on the fence, or get active in this campaign? I’ve identified the 15K people we need to contact, and I need your help going to their homes, calling them, and spreading the word.

Please go to and we’ll be in touch with your assignments. It won’t take a lot of time, but it will make a huge difference.

Of course, it only matters if you believe we can elect an independent voice in this town. It hasn’t happened in a long time.
