Put your money where you get food for my mouth
Mission of Mary Cooperative is an urban agriculture pioneer in the Twin Towers neighborhood just East of my neighborhood, Historic South Park. Twin Towers is not only a food desert- it’s a neighborhood filled with food insecurity. Mission of Mary makes sure that at least in the summer- healthy, organic vegetables are readily available. They have a CSA where you can join and get fresh veggies every week during the growing season.
You can read more about them on their website, https://www.missionofmary.org/
They are a 501(c)3 Non-profit- so every dollar you give them is tax deductible. Right now, they are having an incredible fund raising auction- with tons of great items. Please, do a little shopping for your holiday gift buying now- and enjoy doubling your generosity for a good cause.
They’ve got personal tours of historic districts and rentals of 20 yard dumpsters. How much more romantic can you get.
Here’s the link to the auction site- https://www.biddingowl.com/Auction/index.cfm?auctionID=23872
Please go and do your bidding asap- auctions end in a few days.
Great post, David! Thank you for shining a light on a great organization! My daughter was very involved with them and I know first hand what an impact they make on neighborhoods throughout East Dayton.
Also, for the gardeners that read your blog… Mission of Mary also sells vegetable seedlings in the spring. You can order and pay for them on their website and then swing by a day or two later and pick up your plants. The plants I’ve purchased from them have always done well in my garden.
