Did a suicide take place on Sunday in the Montgomery County Jail?
Word has it that an inmate, Jimmy Miller hanged himself in Pod C on Sunday, Aug 19, 2018.
Today at noon, the Jail task force is meeting at the Main Library, room 1 B. They meet every third Tuesday of the month, same time, same place. You have to get there early to register to speak- and then for only 2 minutes.
Questions, that Sheriff Phil “The Torturer” Plummer needs to answer are:
- Is it safe for 1 correction officer to watch 100 inmates?
- What is the ratio of inmates to correction officers?
- How many officers are assigned to a pod?
These are the questions for accreditation, and the accreditation folks haven’t been getting reliable answers.
Maybe Jimmy Miller’s family will get answers- in the form of more of our tax dollars paying for his mistakes.
It’s time to put Phil in jail, instead of running one. How many people has he given death sentences to already?

About time a real reporter reported some truth!!!!
Phil has got to go. We already saw from the GCL jail consultant that MCJ feels unsafe, and that comes from a person who has seen many jails and prisons. Plummer is the reason the county wants a higher sales tax, look aat all the money the county has paid to settle lawsuits. Hes a cancer to this county and refuses to fix his issues. I heard that some of his employees took a pay freeze for several years in the past, I wonder what all of that money went to. Must have lined Plummer and his goonies pockets. People need to wake up, if he cant run a jail, what makes you think he deserves the 40th Ohio House seat. Look at him and his goonies grimey past. Why is he even still a Sheriff? Where are rhe results from the FEDS investigation that they did on the jail. Plummer must have paid them off well. SMH, this shit wouldnt happen anywhere else. We in Montgomery county are the only ones who lets this filthy organization get away with whatever they want and not bat an eye at it.
Plummer is a bitch
Hanged, not hung.
I am curious what the ACA (the corrections agency, not the healthcare) has to say about that ratio. If the function of incarceration is rehabilitation one would think that more oversight and protection would be needed.
You are blaming the sheriff for a suicide in jail!? Using your twisted logic, who do you blame for the tens of thousands of suicides that occur outside of jails annually?
It is a sad day for the Miller family. May u rest in peace cousin
This was my stepdad. Praying for answers soon.
Condolences Amber. The answer is to replace the sheriff and fix the jail. That won’t bring back your step-dad, but it may stop others from getting a death penalty in jail.
Gsauce, the Sheriff is the Administrative lead for the MCJ. The administrative practices are a direct result of his leadership. Implementation of administrative procedures are what the day-to-day CO’s and other staff carry out. In the MCJ, they used to have a psychiatric staff that was qualified in identification and the alleviation of the issues that are occurring. They no longer do as the experience mental health providers have been forced out because they were trying to address these issues that are being reported today. I still have not seen a report of the woman in the MCJ that took her own life recently.
