Without interviewing anyone else.
Without public comment.
Without resolution on court cases.
Without questioning her performance in the Dunbar basketball fiasco.
This new school board is going to hire Dr. Elizabeth Lolli for the next 3 years.
She’s resigned her other contracts, without finishing. She was hired by the previous superintendent, who was fired less than 6 months after she was hired in a rush for three years.
No one has done their homework. I even dropped the ball, sending out requests to Barberton, Monroe and Middletown for her HR records weeks ago- but not following up (I was a little busy with a lawsuit).
So far I only have a few documents- but will continue to post them as they come in. I’ve also got copies of the contracts they are voting on today.
Here they are. Make your own decisions with the limited info we have. BTW- I asked DPS for all the due diligence records they should have from hiring her in the first place, and they haven’t been presented, meaning- either they didn’t ask, or don’t want to share (illegal).

I am pleased with her evaluation. I am also pleased with her plan. I am a Dayton resident and am pleased with her hiring. I have followed the credible and vetted news media, and done my own research on her as well. She is not only worthy of a chance, she is worthy of the trust of the DPS parents.
Maybe I am rather naïve and idealistic, but I don’t believe anyone on the board or in the DPS administration is acting in their own self-interest. I do believe that they have good intentions when they make decisions with regards to the education of the children in Dayton. With that said, their inability or unwillingness to be transparent with the public they serve and their rush in making critical decisions with as little input as possible from that public creates the perception that they are self-serving or at the very least incompetent.
With the decision to hire Dr. Lolli as the permanent superintendent without at least interviewing additional candidates, the board has done nothing to restore public confidence. I am not saying that Dr. Lolli is not a good choice to be the next superintendent. I am saying that a clear and open process should have been followed before hiring her. (Especially in light of the fiasco that was the school closing task force)
I am still left dumbfounded that the decline in student enrollment was not foreseen and steps taken prior to now to address it. My friends with school age children have done everything in their power to prevent their kids from attending Dayton Public Schools, and this has been going on for several years.
The decisions facing the Board and Administration are going to be tough. I only hope the people making these decisions do so in a way that will move towards restoring the trust of the public. That means following existing laws and procedures and erring on the side of transparency. That’s my two cents…
