The Dayton Education Association is letting the dog eat their homework

The Dayton Education Association “recommended” candidates for Dayton Public School Board last week. They also took a measure I don’t ever remember happening before, they voted overwhelming “no-confidence” in current board president and bully in chief, Chrisondra Goodwine. Usually, no-confidence votes are saved for Superintendents or treasurers.

Goodwine, Granddaughter of former convicted welfare cheat turned activist ” con-man, preacher”Raleigh Trammel, and daughter of convicted felon Angela Goodwine is the absolute last person you want on a school board- or in her job as Jefferson Township administrator. If I was a voter in Jefferson Township, I’d demand to put an airtag on her to see how much time she spends on Ludlow street vs in the Township. I’d also question why you are paying her, paying a school board and pretending to be a viable community. The Jefferson Township “school district” enrollment is 254, has an ideal student teacher ratio of 12 to 1 yet still is one of the worst performing districts in the State. Merge with Dayton, Trotwood and cut your overhead, you can suck just as bad without the overhead of a superintendent, treasurer or board.

Goodwine has threatened to sue me at least once. The truth is the ultimate defense, so I’m not worried. She’ll probably threaten again. She’s a bully with a law degree and should go join Jon Paul Rion in the practice of their version of law. One where you break school board rules and do a no-bid purchase over $50K of hoodies for high school students (as if this is what tax payers are supposed to be buying instead of an education). She made a post on her FB page (which I can’t see) about how the no-confidence vote was because she’s a black, gay, woman. She’s the biggest narcissist I’ve ever seen in local office (with maybe an exception for County Prosecutor Mat Heck who thinks he runs this town and his stuff doesn’t stink). If you need proof, look at every email the board sends out signed by her “Chrisondra Goodwine, Esq., M.B.A, M.P.A., M.C.A., Class B CDL PS President” and she remains the only lawyer I know who insists on being called “Doctor” because, well, she has a juris doctorate.

While not widely reported, she hired fellow board member William Bailey March 4, 2025 (See resolution, opens a PDF) after he left his job at the dysfunctional Montgomery County Probate Court to be Jefferson Township’s “Public Safety Liaison. I don’t know of another township that has this made up position. Either a township has a police department (see Miami Township which probably wishes it didn’t have one now) or they use the Sheriff for police work, but then again, other townships don’t have a “Doctor” running their affairs.

Why the hiring of Bailey isn't a direct conflict of interest is bewildering to me. Since Bailey, who also likes to be addressed as "Doctor" (he's got a doctorate of divinity) I'll go all biblical for the first time in the history of esrati.com/:

Matthew 6:24, “No one can serve two masters. Either you will hate one and love the other, or you will be devoted to one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and money”.

But, what’s even more deplorable in her quest for power is that she’s running with Joe Lacey, who unfortunately was re-elected to office because Dr. Ken Hayes (real PhD) thought he could reinvent political campaigning by not spending money (unfortunately, he still thinks that- more later).

Note, this video is over 8 years old. Joe was voted off, then ran again and won. So, since for School Board you need 4 votes, she ran with her brother, Virgil Goodwine (also a real PhD) and Joe Lacey. We won’t know who her fourth was, but I’m guessing she was hoping for another Black gay woman who didn’t get on the ballot.

But, she has her back up 4th vote, her employee, Mr. Bailey.

In case DEA members need a refresher course in how you get and control 4 votes on School Board, you have to go back a bit, to when the Dayton Business Committee ran a slate called “kids first” and elected 4 new carefully picked candidates, to make sure other posers didn’t continue to sit on the board. They spent $200K back then. Which brings me to what the DEA isn’t doing: spending money to tell voters their recommendations.

They picked the remaining 4 candidates to get their endorsements:

• Incumbent Jocelyn Rhynard
• Jamica Garrison
• Ann Marie “Mario” Gallin
• Dr. Ken Hayes

Then, they didn’t put their money where there mouth is. Nope, the DEA isn’t doing a mailing, isn’t working going door to door with their message, or even posting it on their site’s front page.

So, I stepped in. Friday, I put up a form on Reconstructing Dayton’s website (it’s a 501c4) and asked for pledges to get to the $4200 we need to mail 7500 most likely voters. Within an hour, we were at 10% of that goal, then nothing.

If you work for DPS and want voters to know you want Chrisondra Goodwine Gone, you don’t want her brother, or her buddy Joe to remain on board, you need to either do the mailing, or step up and commit some bucks (if it’s 100 of you giving $40 we’re there). But, if you think just posting on Social Media and an article in the paper will succeed, you weren’t paying attention in class, the dog ate your homework and you have an appointment in the fake doctors office, where we’ll continue to have the little dictator on the board.
