Dayton’s latest emergency ordinance fast-tracks the $1.4M purchase of two crumbling downtown properties from politically connected speculators—without appraisals, competitive bids, or public input. City Manager Shelley Dickstein and Police Major Paul Saunders cite vague “safety” concerns to justify ignoring city-owned, shovel-ready alternatives. This exposé traces the financial manipulation, failed demolitions, and unanswered FBI warrants that point to yet another taxpayer-funded giveaway in a city plagued by backroom deals and campaign-year corruption.

Breaking story: Sheriff puts 9 jailers on administrative leave yesterday

On April 30, 2025, the Montgomery County Jail placed Sgts. Eaton and Solomon and Corrections Officers Drake, Hartman, Wheatley, C. Jones, Bittinger, Holley, and Patel on administrative leave in advance of the release of the coroner’s report on the death of Christian Black.

The coroner ruled Black’s March 26 death a homicide caused by mechanical and positional asphyxia after he was tasered while restrained in a chair.

Dayton Police, who led the investigation, are asking for murder charges against the jailers.

While local media outlets picked up the story later, you read it here first on Esrati.com — where we will continue to follow the case as it moves toward possible grand jury action.
