16 years ago, a veteran of three wars, was robbed and killed in his home in Dayton Ohio. The killer lives, and the rest of us live with the fact that our police can’t solve the crime. Our community can’t identify the killers. Our city failed someone who didn’t fail us.
Every year I write a post. I think about a guy I didn’t know, but would have treated me like a brother had we met. And, I think, is this what he fought for? What would he think today (granted he’d be 101 now) and how do we not do better in Dayton?
The newspaper article still hangs on the wall in front of my monitor. It’s yellowing with time. There are all the posts he’s mentioned on this blog: https://esrati.com/?s=Woodall
There’s the occasional contact from an Airborne brother who still seeks justice, or revenge. And there’s still some punk who did something unspeakable, running our streets with a secret.
If you know anything about who did, step forward. There’s a cash reward. But, there’s also the knowledge that justice would finally come to someone who never really appreciated the freedom that SGM Woodall fought for- for all of us.
Airborne!
All the way!

Hope they catch the perpetrators soon !
This is the second year I’ve read your reminder, David. I hope there isn’t a third year.
