Montgomery County Auditor Karl Keith is trying to explain why it took him so long to audit the dog cigarette license fees. Apparently long term county employee, Jodi Lynn Hockett, is sitting in the Montgomery County Jail awaiting her arraignment for a missing sum in excess of $200K (now reported at $180K).
Arrested on Friday, Hockett was charged way back in 1992 for her own dog not having a license. Dog gone it, doesn’t anyone do a back ground check anymore?
There will be more poop on this scoop as it comes available.
The county was trying to keep this story quiet, but those shock collars don’t work as well as advertised.

Notice Karl Keith always runs unopposed
And at noon- Sydney Dawes of the Dayton Daily has her story- with no credit to me. https://www.daytondailynews.com/local/former-montgomery-county-auditors-office-employee-charged-with-theft-in-office/Y2F5D4VZVBBQZFSTERCEJDCWO4/
Not the only know embezzler working for MC, one is sitting at the–yes you guessed it– Office of Mgmt & Budget as Financial Anal-yst.
The always fall up. Dayton and it’s ways.
Maybe if Karl’s cronies did ANY work to justify their humongous salaries, this wouldn’t happen
Who are Karl’s cronies and what could you possibly know of their “humongous” salaries, Potter? Spill the tea….
It’s a God awful disgrace to see INDICTED MIKE FOLEY, Republican Clerk of Court (re-elected), sign off on the pleadings of INDICTED JODI HOCKETT, former Democrat employee of long serving current Montgomery County Auditor, Karl Keith, a Democrat.
An indictment from a jury of your peers is something of note but, of course, they are presumed innocent until proven guilty in America (so far, anyway).

What’s happening with Foley’s criminal case? I guess we’ll have to check his criminal court case on the Montgomery County Clerk of Court docket he oversees. It’s so hush hush and lots under seal – imagine that! David, the grand jury transcript is coming. Visiting Judge Hein gets the first peek.
Case 2024 CR 01974/1 (Foley) and Case 2024 CR 01974/2 (Piergies) https://pro.mcohio.org/
Hey David! Do me a favor and tell Melissa all the political cronies who work for Keith. She’ll believe you more than me – lol!
First two:
Prosecutor Matt Heck’s son (tell her about him).
Controller Bill Loy – Keith’s campaign manager
p.s. The County has overtaken the City for mischievous behavior!
Melissa, I agree with you about Foley signing off on Hockett charges. But what about this quote from Keith: “Keith said his office will continue to cooperate with the prosecutor’s office on this case.”
What is interesting about that? He’d rather work thru the Country than tell the State Auditors about this, which he is required to do by law!
Potter, apparently the State Auditor’s Office knows about this investigation. The Dayton Daily News reported: “A spokesperson from the Ohio Auditor of State’s Office said they are not involved in this investigation.”

Perhaps you could contact the Auditor or Prosecutor offices directly to voice your concerns and assuage your fears. Good government is always accessible and accountable to the citizens it serves.

BTW, why don’t you answer the questions I posed to you in previous posts? Enquiring minds want to know… ;-)
@biz-who is the Office of Budget employee you refer to? Any more hints? It just seems weird that no one balanced the checkbook for an entire year? They don’t look at that account except once a year? Where is management?
Good reporting, David.
SHINE Try x-cross referencing employees against employees @ WSU employees–over the past 5-7 years. The names that pop up will tell the story. Again, they only fall up in Dayton.
Biz, the cross checking is complete and nothing of import was noted.
Potter, naming Messrs.Heck and Loy without facts is irresponsible.
Don’t rely on David or others in the public space to do your fiduciary / citizen oversight work. Respectfully speaking, put up or shut up.

This is an off topic comment, but I’m surprised you don’t have a post up yet about the No-Bid contract (estimated 200k) that COD just gave the Ohlmann group for Mims puff Peace project. The minutes just got posted earlier this month: https://www.daytonohio.gov/AgendaCenter/ViewFile/Minutes/_12042024-1391
@goliath- I’m well aware. However, I’m swamped. FOIA appeals, 4 other corruption tips, still have to go after DPS for their DatumTech contract. Donations welcome.
