Can Mike Foley really be that stupid?

David Esrati |

June 04, 2025, 09:16 PM |

Monday Jun 2nd, 2025, Lori Kennedy the new County Recorder hired a new employee: Clerk of Courts Mike Foley’s 19 year old daughter for a “summer internship.”

For those of you who have shorter memories than our Clerk of Courts, who is facing an investigation for hiring the son of a Montgomery County Municipal Court Judge James Piergies, this is just sort of beyond the pale. If you need a refresher, here are my stories involving these two dirtbags.

Piergies is now off the bench, he pled guilty to a misdemeanor charge of obstructing official business in exchange for more serious felony charges and allegations of misusing his public office being dropped. He was sentenced to up to two years of community control and 75 hours of community service. A 90-day jail sentence is suspended based on compliance with the community control sanctions. Piergies is also ordered to pay court costs and a $750 fine.

Foley’s case is still pending- and sealed from public view. But, if you are charged with these kinds of crimes, you’d think you’d head over to the Ohio Ethics Commissions web page on nepotism.

And, who can forget that Foley hired Debbie Lieberman after she lost her County Commission race- after she’d voted to allocate money to his office.

As to our new County Recorder, Lori Kennedy, maybe she’s going to be investigated next, but, honestly, if you go through the county building you could build a pretty impressive friends and family tree. Just today, I found out that former BOE Dem Cathy Merkle, who is now working with former Dem BOE director Steve Harsman in Foley’s office- has her daughter working as a case manager in the Probate court. It’s everywhere.

This isn’t isolated. This is systemic.

I’m sure the Dayton Daily news will pick up this story in a few days, and not credit Esrati.com for breaking the story.

But my readers know where they read it first.

Welcome to Montgomery County: where the job qualifications are simple, just be related.

Yes, he can. It’s really just three degrees of separation this time among the election denying, ethically challenged Republicans. Clerks of a feather stick together.

Second degree: https://dayton247now.com/news/local/lori-kennedy-sworn-in-as-montgomery-county-recorder-pledges-dedicated-service

Third degree: https://www.facebook.com/photo/?fbid=234882075346670&set=ecnf.100064746366427

A love heart emoji from Republican Recorder candidate Lori to Clerk Mike Foley:

Auditor Karl Keith hired the Lieberman sons and Willis Blackshear, Sr.’s son for a time. It’s common knowledge the Montgomery County Board of Elections, Recorder, and Auditor provide feeder/standby jobs for fledgling/gapped politicos in both parties.

Foley’s daughter is an adult and can fend for herself in the rough and tumble world of politics, parental challenges, and garden variety job competition. You could say she’s used to it, having gone through the cesspool divorce of her parents, her father’s felony indictment, and the current investigation.

Maybe Republican Recorder Lori Kennedy just hired Republican Clerk of Court Mike Foley’s adult daughter for the summer. I suppose the Court Clerk wants in on the cronyism/nepotism action, but I think Mike Foley is well on his way. All would be well served to avail themselves of the drop downs in this: https://ethics.ohio.gov/education/nepotism.html

Foley hates Keith and hired his former cronies just to piss him off. Hopefully, Foley is next.

Charter is going to gut the DDN like a fish once the merger goes through. I suspect they won’t be breaking any stories in the future which is actually a good thing for the community.

Fndjjeeh:
To be clear, Charter Communications (Charter) did not buy the Dayton Daily News (DDN) in the proposed $34.5 billion merger between the two cable giants, Charter and Cox Communications.

Cox First Media, a small subsidiary of the much larger private, Cox family owned conglomerate, Cox Enterprises (Cox), owns the Dayton Daily News, Springfield News-Sun, Journal-News, and website Dayton.com. Cox calls these three newspapers their “journalism brands”.
https://daytonareachamberofcommerce.growthzoneapp.com/activememberdirectory/Details/dayton-daily-news-cox-first-media-907018

From its website:
“… Cox First Media is a trusted digital marketing company that has grown from a rich history of local journalism in the Dayton region and southwest Ohio. On top of offering the latest in digital marketing strategies, Cox First Media also offers our clients access to an exclusive and engaged audience of local news readers through our owned and operated local journalism brands, The Dayton Daily News, Dayton.com, Journal-News, and the Springfield News-Sun…

One such cited example using Cox’s tools of engagement – device tracking:
“… – Targeted Device ID geofencing around local gyms used by the 55+ community and senior centers showed high ad engagement with the target audience and produced more than 200 clicks…”
https://www.coxfirstmedia.com/casestudies/project2

Rob Rohr is the incoming president of Cox First Media, publisher of the three newspapers and website, and will assume the position on June 30th.

Rohr is a Republican who lives in Warren County, Ohio.

Who are the newspaper clients – investors, advertisers, subscribers, citizens?

Is newspaper’s role to deliver advertisements first and journalism second?

Hey Elizabeth!

It seems many are finding the actions of Mike Foley, his own lawless Republican party, alkie SecDef Pete Hegseth, and Emperor Daddy Trump, quite challenging.

I dedicate this to the Angelenos trying to survive the onslaught, those in need of uplift on the Christian sabbath, and to you, Elizabeth (and Bandito, too)!

Again, yes, Mike Foley can be stupid – today and all the other days.

Legally and ethically flawed Republican Montgomery County Clerk of Court Mike Foley changed his plea today in the Montgomery County Common Pleas Court from not guilty to no contest to a felony charge of misuse or unauthorized use of a computer and a misdemeanor charge of solicitation of campaign contributions.

Foley’s sentence includes a 12-month suspended jail term, 40 hours of community service with additional ethics training, 24 months of community control and $3,500 in fines, according to state investigators.

Neither political party wants to claim him and both call for his removal. The voters should take note of this continued malfeasance and boot him to the curb.
