We live in a supposed democracy. Except- when the cost of running becomes too high- we start to get people beholden to their supporters- or some other organization that is backing them.
It doesn’t matter who gets on the ballot- what matters is that you have a choice. No choice- why bother even holding elections.That’s why I’m circulating Mark Manovich’s petitions along with my own today. It’s important to have primaries- and have a choice.
Dayton City Commission elections are set up to keep people off the ballot. Besides having the required number of signatures being 10x that to run for Congress- the partisan Board of Elections does everything they can to disqualify signatures.
When I come to your door- or one of my supporters, it’s so you can have a choice- even if it is to vote against me.
So sign- or you may as well just give up your right to vote- because, in this town- the candidates are still chosen in a back room without your input anyway.
To the lady who told me she was supporting “who we have”- I asked her to name one piece of legislation that Matt Joseph had introduced in 7 years. She came up with him going on a junket to commemorate the Bosnian Peace Accords signing- that’s not legislation.

You should start your campaign by starting an investigation that leads to the criminals that run the Board of Elections being removed or arrested. The publicity might give you at least a small chance of getting the commission seat you have been dreaming of. What would Mike Turner have done? My guess is you are no Mike Turner.

Wow DL, that’s awesome. Now just add a 4th bullet point that talks about he’s cost the City millions and completely crippled the public safety hiring process via his inside-job Department of Justice lawsuit. That’ll make the site complete!
Is Nan Whaley’s husband Sam Braun still “working” for Karl “banned from boys wrestling” Keith in exchange for working on her campaign? The Dems have an army of people like that on various payrolls in the county and city. They have a built in network of hundreds of “volunteers” that must show up to walk precincts, do political mailing, and round up voters on election day. People like David Esrati should be treasured by this city but instead he will be run over by the 100% corrupt Democrat political machine because he is someone who wants to stop it.
I think it will be great to see David and Mark get enough signatures to make the ballot but without a campaign that can raise money and recruit reliable volunteers they are wasting their time. A successful campaign is team effort and candidates like David and Mark will need big teams if they are going to have a shot.

Or, look at Lovelace’s page, http://www.cityofdayton.org/cco/Pages/CommissionerDeanLovelace.aspx. One of his legislations was to tell people to claim the Earned Income Credit ??? He “is leading the effort to encourage eligible residents to take advantage of this under-used federal tax credit and boost their take-home pay” !!
@Hall- Joseph was allowed to introduce the scrapping bill- which came out of the Priority Boards. That’s one piece in 7 years. Can we say grossly overpaid?
What’s that ? I’m guessing the one that requires the scrap/recycle yards to take driver’s licenses, call police when someone brings shopping cart full of aluminum house siding, etc ?

Our taxes pay $96,000 a year in salary to the rapist hiring board of elections director and deputy director to work 8 to 4 (1 hr paid lunch). That means they are paid $230 dollars a week or almost $12,000 a year to eat lunch out of the tax payers wallet. Is that information right lilly?
The republicans and tea party are complaining about the unions in this state? They should look into what is going on in this totally corrupt office. Where is the DDN on this? Where is the state or county law enforcement on this? What is going on in this office?
Update, I just looked at the board of elections site and guess who the chairman of the board is? Why it is the republican party chairman! If The republicans claim they are about cutting government waste why is waste going on in the government office they are in charge of! The board members, probably unknown to them, have been paying their senior staff $12,000 a year just in paid lunches. Why would the board members not fire the director and deputy director for doing this stuff? IS THIS REALLY HAPPENING??? Mr. Esrati what is your position on this?
