The Montgomery County Democratic Party doesn’t post the list of candidates for the Central Committee, but the Board of Elections has it:
Dem_CC_appears_valid_3_10.pdf (application/pdf Object) [1].
Looks like I’m in one of 3 three-way races for a central committee seat.
I guess I should have campaigned more.
My competition in 1-E:
JOHN C JONES of 338 WYOMING ST
WILLIAM C LOCHARY of 107 ASHLEY ST- APT A
Other 3 way contests in Dayton: 1-C with:
CHARLES M HUTCHINSON of 210 N MAIN ST – APT 1411
RONALD C LEE (Dayton School Board) of 247 E 2ND ST
MARK A SUTTON of 35 S ST CLAIR ST APT 503
And Precinct 18C
GRETCHEN D MOOREof 528 REDWOOD AVE
RICHARD B PATON of 3111 RIVERSIDE DR
JAMES I RICHARDSON Jr. of 200 FERNWOOD ST
Precinct 22B also:
JOHN W FLETCHER of 1124 SALEM AVE- APT 6
FLETCHER GREEN of 1552 N. EUCLID AVE
THEODORE RANDALL of 1335 AMHERST PL
Considering the central committee shrank when the precincts were reduced by the Board of Elections from 548 to 360 [2], there should be an abundance of leftover party people to fill in the seats where there wasn’t a candidate.
Sorry I didn’t cover this earlier- we could have had debates!
The reality is on the ballot today- most seats were unchallenged- and many judicial races will be uncontested. The “greatest democracy in the world” doesn’t do a very good job at giving people choices in Dayton Ohio.
I still aim to change that.
Of course, if I lose this race- it will be front page news.
Hell frozen over? Maybe! ;) Let me be the first on this site to congratulate you, David!! Be sure to send thank you notes to those 35 people that put you into office! ;)
OK, now that you’re officially a political bigwig, what exactly are the duties of your new office?
@Bubba- Thanks.
The duties aren’t taken seriously here. Properly done- you are a grassroots organizer- making sure people are registered, coordinated to help get out the vote- and organized to volunteer.
I plan on using CRM technology to stay in contact with everyone I can- and work to make sure the democratic voters know whats going on.
In Texas where they take this seriously- one county has an entire handbook: http://webcache.googleusercontent.com/search?q=cache:7aDRU6dXBeIJ:www.kingwoodareademocrats.org/downloads/PrecinctChairHandbook.doc+precinct+chairman+responsibilities&cd=7&hl=en&ct=clnk&gl=us&client=firefox-a
Today’s Dayton Daily News has a fun article about Joe the Plumber’s also having won his first elective office, as a member of the Republican Party committee in Lucas County.
A new day is here – and take everything seriously. Ok, not everything…
Joe The Plumber was once a roofer… Would I vote for him? Sure. Better him than Dub-a-ya…
