The Dayton Daily News is really a fleabag paper

I can’t make this up- official internal memo:

Subject: Media Center Flea Update

We’re continuing work on the problem with fleas in the Media Center.

We’ve spoken with the exterminators, and we’ve decided to make a major effort tonight to eliminate the fleas. Many of you will be affected by this. Here are some details:

*       We will close our building from 8 p.m. Monday until 5 a.m. on Tuesday so that the entire building can be treated during that time. No employees will be permitted in the building during those hours.

*       We are working on a plan for the newspapers and web sites to be produced from other locations. If you normally work at night, talk to your manager about where you should work.

*       We’ve been assured by our exterminators that the process and materials used in our building are safe.

*       We’ve made cans of  insect repellant available throughout the building. Some of you have asked for that, especially when you leave the building.  Please use it in a well-ventilated area.

We will be obtaining more information and sharing it with you as we get it; you can expect another update later today. We appreciate your help and patience with this.

If you have any other questions, please talk to your manager.

Thanks, Brian

Great post David, keep up your great work on the Dayton Daily News and related subject matter, I thought only dawg’s got fleas?. Also I may add that this Sunday marked the fifth time Susie had to call the paper to inform them that they had missed our deliver again, with her pleading voice stating, “Will you please not leave out the Parade section again.”

Sounds much like the bedbug thing in Manhattan:

This past Sunday morning I sat on the porch to make sure I received the morning paper. The mail carrier arrieved and threw a paper on my neighbors porch and got in his car to drive away, when I yelled,” What about us, we get a paper?” He stopped and got out a cheat sheet and said my address was not on it, I then went on to inform him that it should be that we had reported not getting a paper for the last five weeks. He gave us our morning paper, and said he would check on it. Here I am placing the blame on the messanger and not the staff whom I talked to five times before, informing me that they would report it and it would not happen again. Poor Dayton, not only do we not get good news copy, but the service sucks.

Larry, you might have better luck getting your paper if you yell at the DDN route driver instead of the mail carrier.  Besides, I’m sure that most mail carriers don’t appreciate being yelled at on Sunday morning since that’s usually a day off for them! **

** Larry – I’m just playin’ with ya!  No need to call me an a$$hole again! ;)

So I made an grammatical error, I was much more scared that someone would catch my spelling error:  The mail carrier arrieved  in place of: arrived. And to think I had reread it three times before submitting it. Just goes to show you that I am not perfect.
