Copy of the PDF the BOE sent me: May 7 2013 Dayton Petition Reports [1]

If any of you would like to speculate on why some candidates have higher rejection rates than others- or do statistical analysis- I’d be interested to hear what you have to say in the comments.

A few things- signatures aren’t collected on a table- usually on a clipboard- meaning signatures may not look the same as the voter registration card.

I’m not sure how someone can turn in “4 Late- Date follows collection”

And- it clearly says on the petition- “WHOEVER COMMITS ELECTION FALSIFICATION IS GUILTY OF A FELONY OF THE FIFTH DEGREE” which makes me wonder, how can you turn in over 200 signatures that don’t match and not be prosecuted.

Hall

Aren’t you going to suggest that Nan had a bunch of fake signatures ? :-D Look how many of hers are denoted as ‘signature doesn’t match’.

As for “Signer is out of area”, that looks to be the most common reason for rejection and I have to think it’s seriously flawed. Is everyone collecting signatures going outside the city limits to get them ? Not likely… Are there people from outside of Dayton who happen to be visiting someone or someplace that are asked to sign ? Again, not likely… Isn’t the most common scenario that the voter registration info is out of date ?

Mel

Yeah, had the same thought as Hall – what the heck does “signer is out of area” really mean?

Also, you’re not allowed to sign your own petition? Looks like almost everyone got dinged for it.

Dr. Funkenstein

My friends at the BOE all say your petitions are counted/processed just like all the other candidates.  The criminal stuff that happens at the BOE does not show up in the petition process as far as my sources tell me.  The directors there specialize in hiring rapists, drug dealers, messing up provisional ballots, counting votes on stolen voting machines, having people with criminal records count absentee ballots and using county funds to have an affair with your secretary.  The petition process is fair from what I hear.

People can be county residents and think they get to vote for mayor.

Signing the petition is often the shortest distance to ending the interaction.

Stats would be more fun if the data were already in a nice table…  Not sure how valid any results would be anyway.

The Montgomery County Board Of Elections is a joke! The corruption there runs deep, maybe the FBI should look into Federal Election laws being broken. The local BOE has lost confidence in other BOE’s around the state. Director Matt Damschroder wrote a letter to Montgomery Co. giving a vote of no confidence for Harsman. If Harsman’s fellow Directors around the state can see it why can’t the local leaders? Are they involved in it as well?
