Strickland fails to lead.

The “Stripper Bill” is going into law without the Governor’s signature.

A pure gutless move by a first term governor who is afraid to load the weapons against his reelection campaign, instead of doing what is right.

All the passage of this bill will do is create more lawsuits, a risk of hidden private clubs where this activity can be done without risk of prosecution, and allowing religion to enter politics once again.

To prove a point- while our legislators are so worried about how close a stripper gets to a customer, there are private sex clubs all over the state including at least 2 in the Dayton area- where people have SEX- OMG, did I just say that… and they may not even be married to their partner.

Strickland needed to put his foot down, say this is not what the legislature should be doing- veto it, and get the focus back on school funding and job creation through a better business environment.

Word from insiders on Capitol Hill is that the conservative morality group that pushed the strippers legislation is already gearing up for their next push. This time they will likely attack the ability of gays to adopt or become foster parents.

Give them an inch, they take a mile!

Teri Lussier

Strickland tanked on this one. Too bad as he could have set a positive precedent rather than a negative one.

Bruce- Are you serious about the next push? Do the insiders think that Strickland will step up to the party platform and fight for gay rights? Who is exactly is the conservative morality group?

Drexel Dave

Watch ’em go after the swingers clubs next!

What will you do then for entertainment Mr. Esrati! ;-)

Jeff

I think, from a child welfare perspective, a good case can be made to forbid gays & lesbians from being foster parents or adoptive parents.

Screw republicans – the people that give more money, donate more time to charitites, donate more blood, etc….. screw them. Let us have the tax greedy librals have more kids, bc all of the taxes they promote end up hurting the people they want to help – The Poor.

Jeff – Your opinion is exactly what the conservatives are counting on. With little scientific fact to support those suppositions they prey on voters ‘gut’ feelings. Legislators must use facts to set law not hysteria. Hysteria unfortunately motivates voters to the polls and look for them to have something on the ’08 presidential ballot to bring out the republican voters.

Jeff

Oh, I’m sure they screen same eex couples pretty thoroughly when they let them adopt or foster parent, so i dont’t have any concerns about family life. The issue is what happens to the kid in school or in the neighborhood, as he could be a target for harrassment and hassling because his parents are homos or lesbos. I’m sure this would be OK in a place like Yellow Springs, but how about in Fairborn or Riverside? It’s more the social situation the kid will find himself or herself outside the home that concerns me.

Jeff – You are falling right into their hands. Many grapple with the same opinion but where are the facts?

Drexel Dave

Yeah, what we need to do more is to placate the fears and ignorance of a populace afflicted with a redneck attitude.

I myself, David and the rest of youns, am quite the proud hillbilly. Of course, had you my fine Appalachian pedigree, you’d feel the same! ;-)
