If you only watch one YouTube video endorsement of a candidate this season, this is the one to watch. In a measured, reasoned and well thought out series of answers, Colin Powell puts the smackdown on the direction of John McCain and the Republican party.
He flat out says that Sarah Palin isn’t fit to be president, and brushes aside any question of Obama’s ability to lead the country at war.
His dismissal of the Bill Ayers “controversy” and his questioning of why people even care if Barack Obama is a Muslim as opposed to is he, or isn’t he, shows why Powell is considered a master statesman.

For all that want to claim that Obama is the darling of the “liberal media” – this endorsement should be a clear indication that Obama is more than just a slick speaker, but a man of substance, or as Powell put it- a transformational leader.
Three words: “Check…and…mate”
What’s so funny is that while he dismisses Sarah Palin’s qualifications for the Presidency, he implies that both Barack (ACORN) Obama and Joe (I Kicked Hezbollah out of Lebanon) Biden are qualified. WOW! Barack Obama, who’s only career accomplishment during his time in public service is gaining his party’s nomination for President? Joe Biden, who’s made so many gaffes, mistakes, horrible decisions, etc., etc., good lord etc., that the mere mention of his name welcomes snickers? This is going to be our executive branch?
As a sidenote, I find it funny to see the people who used to attack and criticize Powell now believe he’s the greatest thing in the world. I think it’s easy to see why Powell picked Obama. Number 1, Powell was looking at the polls. Number 2, Powell was looking at the skin color. His reasons for endorsing Obama is about as convincing as accepting Paris Hilton into MENSA.

Hanky Panky thanks for putting a name by your wise insights. Bob Woodward’s books are the main reason that the people who use to attack Powell have newfound respect for him. Mr. Powell might have been the only sane voice going into Iraq. Before the “surge” there was a military plan that called for the exact opposite plan that Mr. Rumsfield and the Bush administration used in Iraq….shock and awe = failure. Powell was the voice of reason. He said you break you bought, we are continuing to pay off Iraq at 10 billion a month.
No previous experience can give you experience being the president of the United States, except maybe the vice presidency. Being in the military may actually hinder a candidates ability to be Commander in Chief. Just like being a former CEO may hinder ones ability to make decisions on regulating the financial community…dig?

Anyone who thinks a man of Colin Powell’s stature and background would choose to endorse a presidential candidate because he is black, AND flat out says that Senator Obama has done NOTHING during his public service except win his parties nomination, however, is racist – in my opinion.

I was reading a book this week from the late 1990s that cited examples of when liberals/democrats disagree with conservatives/republicans, they find it fulfilling to play the “racist” card. I thought possibly that day has passed. Boy, was I wrong. That is an effective tactic though. I remember when Obama was launching his first attacks on Bush and McCain, claiming that they’ll (I’m paraphrasing now) use racism in the campaign against Obama. The race card is a very good card to play. Who wants to be labeled racist?
I really enjoyed the list of Obama’s “accomplishments” too. Heck, you should be a chief spokesperson for Obama. Able to sugarcoat that woefully unimpressive resume? Wondrous.

And Mr. Esrati has shown that some people can call others names (ie TL) but other people get scolded when calling people names (me.) So I think, in my opinion, TL is racist bc she thinks any white boy who does not like BO is a bad person.

Racism doesn’t matter. I don’t see where and how being called a racists hurts a person one bit. Show me the damage? Jesse Helms, Strom Thurmond had long careers using race as there fulcrum (although they both “saw the light later on in life). Radio show hosts make a living and substantial amount of money despite being called racist (Savage and Imus). Even on the local level I have yet to see repercussions for racist attitudes….and lord I have seen and heard some pretty crazy stuff.
I have yet to meet someone who wasn’t a racist in the truest sense. Recognition or validation of this unscientific, purely aesthetical category instantly makes you a racist in my book.
