So a lawyer, a tv weather guy and a mortician walk into a board of elections

So a lawyer, a tv weather guy and a mortician [1] walk into a board of elections- sounds like a punchline to a joke right?

[UPDATE: 19 Feb 09Correction- there are apparently two Jamie Simpson’s in town- and the meteorologist isn’t the one running for mayor]

Actually, we’ll have three high profile candidates for Mayor of Dayton on the horizon, and the problem is only two will make it through the primary.

This is why if we changed the way we elect the mayor to top vote getter of the three top from a field of six, we’d be much better off.

Just think- last time around, we’d probably have kept Dave Bohardt and Joey Williams and not gotten stuck with Nan Whaley.

Much cheaper, efficient and until we have a strong mayor form of government, the system will work better and take the “celebrity status” of the center seat out of the process.

At least Nan Whaley didn’t abstain on the gay rights ordinance vote. I’ll never vote for Joey Williams ever again.
