“Shit, piss, fuck, cunt, cocksucker, motherfucker, and tits.”

George Carlin died.

Those are the seven famous words you can’t say on television [1].

From one believer in the First Amendment to another- thank you for challenging the status quo.

You will be missed.

And George had his say on voting and politicians-(thanks John)

It may be twisted logic, but, face it: there are still Americans driving around with “W” stickers on their SUVs (at least those that can still afford to put gas in the tank.)

Incredibly sad. “A Place for My Stuff” was an integral part of my childhood (much to my mom’s horror and dad’s delight). That’s how I prefer to remember him. The last few years weren’t really kind to his comedy.

Farewell to a great man.

One of my favorite George Carlin bits was his take on “obscene words”. His point was that words like “kill” were much worse in their meaning than words like the “F” word… I’m kidding… as (like George pointed out) the incredibly versatile word “fuck” (verb, noun, adjective, adverb, etc).

His solution to the perverse usage and meaning of those words was to exchange them, and his example was brilliant:

John Wayne walks into town and says to the villain in the classic John Wayne drawl, “You better get outta’ town by sundown pilgrim… or I’m gonna ______ ya’.

Rest in peace, George, and look over us when we celebrate what I think you found as the greatest of American holidays– the 4th of July, also ironically termed Independence Day– as we celebrate overthrowing the government! More politicians should be reminded of this each year.

Thank you for your insight and observations.

P.S. The Supreme Court Justices had a ball with your case!!!

“I never eat sushi. I have trouble eating things that are merely unconscious.” George Carlin

There is much more to his comedy than just a few words. I’ll never forget the 60 seconds he spent talking with me after a show in Pennsylvania back in 74. Ah we were all so impressionable.

You might like G.C.’s take on voting and politicians. Money quote: “You, the public, sucks”.

“…if there is a god it has to be a man, no woman could or would fuck things up like this.”

A true genius.

Speaking of which, you’ve stepped up the post quality as of late, David. Kudos.

that George Carlin had a larger pair than any man in history is without question. He had to work in a comericial enviroment, that is he had to make a living, and still was able to get his message across. we live in a beutifull country, (I’ve been to others, I know,) but America still needs a LOT
