Sarah Palin: Cheerleader for the Grand White Party

In the first 15 minutes of her “speech” last night- Sarah talked about her favorite subject: her. In stark contrast to Obama- who specifically said “It’s never been about me, it’s about you.”

She also quickly attacked his credentials as an “organizer” compared to her position of Mayor in “her hometown” (forgetting she was born in Idaho) where she had “real responsibility.”

Looking around the hall- I saw a lot of white people. With suits and ties. With signs. Without a remote hint of the many flavors of our country. I must hand it to Palin though- she had no problem reaching out to pander to the parents of “special needs” children. That vote- along with the State of Alaska, is sure to put John McCain over the top, not.

The stiffness of her delivery can be chalked up to her inexperience as a speaker. However, the lack of substance can not. For a person who is about to be judged as suitable for the number 2 person in our Country, she sounded more like a cheerleader than a quarterback or coach.

And, if being an organizer isn’t enough of a quality to lead our country- then I wonder why Barack Obama’s organized, grassroots political machine, which has out-raised any candidate from small donations- has won more states, and received more votes- than a whole bevy of “experienced candidates” who weren’t the long shots- is the envy of every politician, and the text book example of how to run a campaign?

I’m sorry I’m writing this before seeing the whole thing- but, I had to go to work, to pay the governor.

What is your point about AA delegates?

Most Blacks in America are going to vote or Obama bc he is black. They have said so. You would hate it if a white guy said he’ll vote for McCain bc he is white. Liberals just can’t see the double standard.

Pam

Maybe they will vote for Obama because he’s not going to write them off or “exploit” them just because they fit a certain demographic.

Gene

Maybe. But many black people have stated they are voting for him bc he is black. BTW, each party “exploits” certain demographics. I think you are adult enough to understand that, otherwise we would have a little more equality in this country. Even Democrats want to keep people down. That is how they maintain their base.

It is funny bc AA and Latinos have traditional values (a conservative thing) yet vote Democrat. Once they make it out from poor to middle class, or middle class to upper mc or wealthy, they become Republicans. These two segments of the American Population are the two most notorious for being against homosexuals. And throw in Asian Americans and these three groups are the most racist in America. ( all three of the groups trust whites 3 times as much as the round robin above, ie each other) I think it is interesting who Democrats are trying to appeal to.

Larkin, darlin’

What makes you think I care WHAT my kids think?? I made it, I’ll spend it. Love David E lots :-)

Larkin

NKA You ought to care what your kids think. They’re your only meaningful contribution to the world, and who they turn out to be reflects directly upon you.

J.R. Locke

Blacks have conservative values too (hence all the church’s) but they don’t vote Republican. Why is that? Didn’t the Republicans free the slaves too?

I know very many folk who are voting strictly on race I will likely be one of them.

Pam

Obama is biracial, so I guess any racist can vote for him and feel good about it (unless they’re Asian, Native Hawaiian/Pacific Islander, or American Indian/Alaskan Native). The Asians ought to vote for him too, since McCain has been quoted as saying “I hated the gooks. I will hate them as long as I live.” And since Obama grew up in Hawaii, he should have the Polynesian vote locked up (after all, he’s the hometown boy).

So that leaves the Alaskan Natives, all 5,000 of them, to vote for Palin, and the Constipated Albinos to vote for McCain. :-)

Gene

Why won’t Obama release his birth certificate? I think he was not born in the United States and I also think the sh*t will hit the fan when he wins and someone reveals this.

Larkin:

I know my kids are my most important contribution to the world. They are caring, wonderful people and I am so proud of them! I am also proud of the legacy that my husband and I will leave to the Dayton community. Because we have been so successful, we are able to leave resources to many deserving institutions.
Most of us “working rich” are not at home eating bon-bons. We understand the concept of charity.
I do not have any personal “beef” with Obama and his supporters. I’m sure he is a fine man, he has a beautiful family. I just like the McCain-Palin ticket better.
Peace out.

Background of our Pres candidates. JOHN AND CINDY MCCAIN: Family values and how much do you have in common with them? Though born in Panama John McCain is considered a natural-born U.S. citizen. His father was an admiral in the U.S. Navy (as was his grandfather) who was stationed in Panama in 1936, when McCain was born. (This also means McCain was part of the ruling class from birth…He’s never wanted for anything in his whole life.) John McCain: Husband: John McCain courted his current wife, Cindy, for months before divorcing his first wife, Carol Shepp who was confined to a wheel chair after a car accident in 1980. Cindy McCain is the heiress of the Anehauser-Busch fortune. Her wealth is estimated at approximately $100 million. John McCain’s wealth is about $405,000 per year. And although she is no longer a user, Cindy McCain, in 1992 she stole drugs from a medical charity that she helped fund and she used her employees’ names to obtain drugs, and even enlisted some her her staff to pick up those prescriptions on her behalf. She also used the DEA numbers of multiple physicians who worked for the American Voluntary Medical Team to obtain drugs, often without the doctors’ knowledge. Clothes and Houses: Own about 8 – 9 houses Cindy’s outfit for the RNC cost $313,100, Vanity Fair estimates BARRACK AND MICHELLE OBAMA Barrack was born in Hawaii to an American woman from Kansas named Ann Durham and a man from Kenya named Obarck Obama Sr. Divorced a few years later, Ann married Lolo Soetoro, from Indonesia and Barack Jr. lived with his stepfather and mother in Indonesia from age 6 – 10. He then lived with his grandparents back in Hawaii until his mom returned to Hawaii. After a few years she had to go back East to finish her PhD work and he remianed with his grandparents. Obama and Michele paid for college with loans. Last year they brought in income of approximately $4 million. Obama made most of his money off of a book. They own one big home. Jeff nails it. Palin energized the base as the RTLrs (Right to Lifers) have cranked it up. I am sitting in a coffee shop in Petersburg Alaska and yes the politics of Alaska fit perfectly with the White, self proclaimed Christians.

“Forgive them for they no not what they do.” – Jesus

“Mad Men on both sides of the Fence” – Atmosphere by Son Volt

I would like to point out to all those supposed Christians out there that God is working both sides, so the decisions you think you are making after prayer are really the wrong ones. NKA I had my only prayer answered as a Child – I prayed to understand the Bible – My prayer was answered and YOU do not get it. American Christians have helped saddle the riders of the Apocalypse and will be judged harshly for their decisions.

Gandhi

I like your Christ. I do not like your Christians. Your Christians are so unlike your Christ.

Jeff

^^
Son Volt is a great band, or was back in the ’90s.

@Gene – stumbled upon this tonight (in response to your comment about Obama presenting his birth certificate).

http://www.factcheck.org/elections-2008/born_in_the_usa.html

Born in the U.S.A.
August 21, 2008
Updated: August 26, 2008
The truth about Obama’s birth certificate.
Summary
In June, the Obama campaign released a digitally scanned image of his birth certificate to quell speculative charges that he might not be a natural-born citizen. But the image prompted more blog-based skepticism about the document’s authenticity. And recently, author Jerome Corsi, whose book attacks Obama, said in a TV interview that the birth certificate the campaign has is “fake.”

We beg to differ. FactCheck.org staffers have now seen, touched, examined and photographed the original birth certificate. We conclude that it meets all of the requirements from the State Department for proving U.S. citizenship. Claims that the document lacks a raised seal or a signature are false. We have posted high-resolution photographs of the document as “supporting documents” to this article. Our conclusion: Obama was born in the U.S.A. just as he has always said.

There’s a lot more, but this should get you started.

Another Andrew Sullivan op-ed. Money quote:”you have permission to be afraid”. The fright begins as John McCain reveals his reckless side Sarah Palin has opposed his key policies, so why did he pick her? Andrew Sullivan There is one reason the job of vice-president exists. In a system with a single executive, you need someone to fill in if the president is incapacitated or dies. In war time this is especially important. More salient: McCain just turned 72 and would be the oldest first term president in American history with four cancer scares and the awful residue of Vietnamese torture in his bones. The pick is also the first presidential-level decision a candidate has to make. You learn a lot about the candidate. And with Obama and McCain, we have two men who have never been executives – just legislators, book-writers and celebrities. So the decision is the first time we can compare the two men on a presidential decision level. In Joe Biden, Obama revealed his core temperamental conservatism. It was a safe choice of someone deeply versed in foreign policy, and with roots that connected to the working class white ethnics he needed. It wasn’t flashy; and was even a little underwhelming; but it was highly professional. What we have learned about John McCain from his selection of Sarah Palin is that he is as impulsive and reckless a decision-maker as George W. Bush. We know this not because of what we have learned about this Pentecostalist populist since she exploded on the scene last Friday morning (and God knows we have learned more than we ever wanted). We know it because of how McCain made the decision. He wanted his best friend, Joe Lieberman, the former Democratic vice-presidential candidate for Al Gore. That pick would have been remarkable for its bipartisan nature, would have impressed independents, and signaled a centrist presidency centered on foreign policy. It would have been bold while not being rash. But McCain is in charge of a party that is now, at its core, religiously motivated. Joe Lieberman, for all his political talents,… Read more »

Did palin ever actually ban a book? Does anyone know the name of any objectionable books that she wanted to ban? I believe the answer to these questions is no.

Jeff

Id like to remind everybody that we really dont have a chance to actually vote on Palin yet.

Unless the GOPers are really voting for Palin, and McCain is sloppy seconds. Upside-down ticket? I guess thats like McKinley/Roosvelt, where the more popular, charismatic perrson was veep.

Bruce Kettelle

I akin Palin to that great one night stand from the Foundry. Looked good on the dance floor but it was a different story when you woke up in the morning handcuffed to her bed!

Gene

funny – Liberals want to ban the bible and other religious scripture. Just ask Bill Maher.

tg

Anyone else intrigued by the fact that McCain’s camp went after Obama’s inexperience, then selected an experienced running mate? Republicans flipped about Obama’s preacher, now they’re saying Palin’s faith is a non-issue? Palin makes a big deal of Obama’s & Biden’s lack of “executive” experience – which McCain doesn’t have either?

greg hunter

I love the Bible, but I am a Republican. I also like Bill Maher.
