For Immediate Release: 1 April 2025
Columbus. Ohio Democratic Party Chair Liz Walters called an emergency plenary session of the state Dems that was held on Sunday, Mar 30 to discuss a revolutionary re-alignment of the party after their stunning losses last November. “We’ve been allowing the opposition to dictate the battle lines through gerrymandering for too long” said Walters, after hearing a plan presented to her last Friday by former unendorsed Congressional candidate David Esrati who watched her presentation to the Montgomery County Democratic Party the previous night.
Esrati asked why the party kept organizing around Ohio’s 88 county lines, while the important battles were being lost in Ohio’s 15 Congressional Districts. “Why have 88 captains when you really need 15 Generals?” was how Esrati defined his plan which got Walters thinking. While she had talked about how Sherrod Brown had spent $140M to lose as an incumbent in the most expensive senate race ever [1] it wasn’t the money that wasn’t working, it was the entire organizational structure according to Esrati who she talked to on Friday.
“The parties job is to win elections, not choose the candidates” said Esrati, and in order to do that, the party needs to build a grassroots network that’s in place all the time, ready at a moments notice to mobilize and get Dems elected. Esrati’s plan comprises of two parts, the mechanics of running, from setting up websites, accepting donations and informing voters of their options and where to put signs, how to staff voting sites on election day, and making sure we get out the vote, but also having a message that resonates with all voters uniting them in believing that the Dem party not only believes in protecting all Americans, but actually running the state efficiently and effectively.”
While Ohio was divided into 88 counties long ago, unlike voting districts, those county lines haven’t changed an iota despite population shifts and growth. This has led to massive inefficiency in government with so much duplication of services it’s caused Ohio to have extremely high governmental overhead. “Do we really need 608 school districts in Ohio, with superintendents, treasurers and elected school boards” said Esrati who founded a 501c4 “Reconstructing Dayton [2]” back in 2020 to promote unigov in Dayton. There are some school districts with less students than an elementary school, yet have all this overhead, same goes for how many clerk of courts websites do we have in the State of Ohio when all we really need is one, and it should be run with Open Source software built by the state, not entrusting our legal system to a private software company with proprietary software which can hold our data hostage.”
Along those same lines, the ODP is going to abandon the faltering NGP VAN software [3] which has never proven to be up to the job. When Obama won in 2008 his team had to build it’s own proprietary software platform [4] and campaign workforce, which is exactly what the new ODP reorganization sets to have ready and waiting for the 2026 Congressional races. They are also bypassing ActBlue which charges a premium [5] for collecting Dem donations- a premium that doesn’t benefit campaigns or the party. “ActBlue is no different than the mob taking a scrape of your hard earned donations” said Esrati, who sees campaign funds all routing through a single reporting mechanism that takes the complexity of campaign finance out of the hands of amateur treasurers and builds a real-time reporting system of verified donors as an indication that the Democratic party is the more trustworthy, transparent party looking to bring a new efficiency to government. Considering there are many voters cheering Elon Musk’s misguided Department of Government Efficiency chainsaw approach to cutting government spending, no one is talking about making Ohio government more efficient and that’s an opportunity for turning Ohio back to blue.
Walters had said she was going to wait to talk to voters this summer to build a plan, yet Esrati said it was clear the voters had spoken and you didn’t listen: “They don’t want what you are selling, from a 72 year old career politician for senate to your attempt to end gerrymandering, you got beat. It’s time to start building a machine to win elections now, not later.”
Full details of the restructured party, the list of initiatives to make Ohio efficient backed by all Dem candidates, and the new software and organizing tools will be available June 1 after the May primaries. “We know the old Democratic brand was toxic said Walters, quoting California Governor Gavin Newsom [6], and we think we’ve got a great outline of Dem 2.0 in the works” said Esrati who was named interim strategist for the ODP.

So much of this program seems fertile to me–and there are a couple of sublime chuckles that I probably shouldn’t explain. One quibble: the Dem losses last November were not “stunning”, they were de rigueur. Dems are going to keep losing 66& or more of state-wide offices so long as we’re gerrymandered, and the pale constitutional amendments that have been aimed at fixing that problem are so far impotent.
And today’s date is ……….
“… we think we’ve got a great outline of Dem 2.0 in the works” said Esrati who was named interim strategist for the ODP.”
You’re ever the prankster, David. Happy April Fool’s Day!
I hid some comments until April 1 was over.
Every year I write an April Fools post. Every year- some people believe me- which is awesome. However, there was nothing fictional about how this would be a good start to the dems winning- something they seem to be allergic to in Ohio.
I will soon write an entire guide on how they need to reformulate and reset the campaign machinery. None of the establishment dems will pay attention- but- maybe some billionaires and some grassroots groups will. Thanks for playing.
April Fool or not, still great ideas.
April 1 is this a joke?
Maybe people don’t like open borders and illegal immigrants flooding into the country using up their Social Security benefits, making lines longer at hospitals and stealing American jobs, overcrowding in the school systems..
I’m thinking that’s not a winning strategy, but what do I know?
Now let’s talk about the thieving that’s been going on in office. Seems like doge has uncovered tons of waste fraud, and abuse that neither the Republicans or the Democrats have been calling out.
Trump and Republicans – American style carnage

It’s not too late to start that Victory garden and bone up on Depression cookery. Two smart gals, Clara and Grandma Feral share some tips on YouTube. A favorite comes from sweet Clara (God rest her soul) and the poor man’s meal. She also shares her experiences being poor during the Depression and her family’s immigrant history.

Trump’s mother was a Scottish immigrant domestic worker who followed her sister to the US, married first generation German American Fred Trump, had their bully baby Donald, and the rest is history.
I stumbled upon Clara and Grandma Feral’s channels during the Covid-19 pandemic. You may recall this time. Under Trump’s 1.0 death & destruction first term, over one million Americans died of Covid-19 and related illnesses. Now we have measles and another financial meltdown to contend with. Trump played a lot of golf then, too, but not as much as he is these days – a real modern day Nero.
Did I mention history and old fools repeat themselves?
Want some truth?
Dems are 21% approval.
Dems fight deportations.
Dems fight a secure border.
Dems fight election integrity.
All because Dems must cheat about 20%-30% to compete.
As exposed in “2000 mules”.
We haven’t had a legit election in years!
Simple.
Good grief, Tim! Is that baby rant the best you can come up with for Democratic Party and election truth? I’ll take a hard pass. (…still waiting for your “Q” truths…)
I hardly think the cinematic drivel from convicted felon Dinesh D’Souza adequately supports your wacky theories. You and Dinesh share a criminal history and Trump pardons, but are criminals nonetheless. Neither of you can speak with any authority or experience on election integrity, that’s for sure.
“… Manhattan U.S. Attorney Preet Bharara stated: “Dinesh D’Souza attempted to illegally contribute over $10,000 to a Senate campaign, wilfully undermining the integrity of the campaign finance process. Like many others before him, of all political stripes, he has had to answer for this crime – here with a felony conviction.” According to the Indictment, prior court filings, and statements made in court: The Federal Election Campaign Act (the “Election Act”) is designed to limit financial influence in the election of candidates for federal office, including the Office of United States Senator, and provides for the public disclosure of the financing of federal election campaigns. In particular, the Election Act limits the amount and source of money that may be contributed to a federal candidate or that candidate’s authorized campaign committee. The Election Act specifically prohibits any person from making any contribution in the name of another, including reimbursing a third person, before or after that third person’s contribution, as inducement to make that contribution….”

It looks to me like Indivisible & the Wisconsin Democratic Party are working hard. Here’s Ben Wikler, Wisconsin Dem Party Chair, today: “What we’re seeing at #handsoff protests nationwide today and what we saw at the ballot box on Tuesday are not unrelated. The public is furious. It will not be silenced. And those who side with Trump and Musk—or refuse to fight back—will be swept out of office.” Just look at that shift in margin!

Elon Musk failed to buy the Wisconsin Supreme Court, despite his billions. The people saw right through Musk & Brad Schimel as the lying Trump shills they are.

How many of you suffered these recent losses: job, healthcare, pension, retirement, nest egg, savings, purchasing power, small business growth, library services, groceries, local public school funding, college education, free speech, due process, legal protections, etc.?
While Americans bleed out from Trump’s bone saw actions this week, the Trump family is squiring around the Saudis for a weekend of golf at Trump’s private golf course. I wonder how much Trump will personally profit from that.
The South Korean President was impeached & removed from office for his violations of their Constitution. We can impeach (x 3) & remove our unfit dictator.

The U.S. Treasury couldn’t account for $4.7 trillion in payments.
Medicare sent $2.7 trillion overseas—to people who weren’t even eligible.
The Pentagon lost track of $2.5 trillion.
Social Security was sending $100 billion a year to people with no verifiable identity.
The Department of Education blew $50 billion a year pushing gender ideology on kids.
USAID spent another $50 billion trying to export that ideology worldwide.
That was over a third of the national debt—gone—in just three weeks.
This wasn’t incompetence. It was fraud. Blatant, systemic, and defended by the left.
I can’t believe all the countries wanting to negotiate the tariffs after only a few days. Trump was right again.
Why don’t you ever provide sources for your information, Tim? There are never any verifiable sources or facts from you. Blowing it out your you know yet again.
Cribbing from the Doge boys X feeds (unverifiable), I guess. Let’s watch for the gigantic Doge checks – coming to us any day now, right? I wonder why Congressional Oversight (House AND Senate) have failed to do their job.
Trump is a serial lying criminal and clearly not informed enough to lead America. Those are true facts for you.
