Got this message about the new plans for the project formerly known as the new Wayne Avenue Kroger store.

NOTICE OF PUBLIC MEETING

Wayne & Wyoming Project

The Dayton community and interested stakeholders are invited to attend a public meeting with City officials to learn about the “Plan B” redevelopment strategy for the Wayne & Wyoming project area.
Thursday, January 29, 2009 at 6:30 p.m.
Ruskin Elementary School 407 Ambrose Court Dayton, Ohio 45410

Parking is available at the school, which is located near the intersection of Xenia Avenue and McClure Street in the Twin Towers neighborhood. For general questions please contact:

The City of Dayton, Ohio
Office of Economic Development (937) 333-3634
www.CityofDayton.org

Wayne & Wyoming project managers:
Amy Walbridge, Special Projects Administrator (937) 333-3813
Keith Klein, Senior Development Specialist (937) 333-3812

My first question is going to be how much the City will sue Kroger and Midland Atlantic for this wild goose chase. Marking a neighborhood “Blighted” so that Kroger could buy it cheap should come with a price tag.
What would you ask?

UPDATE: Meeting postponed.

Where will the prostitutes go if they give that area a face-lift?

What a surprise. A Cincy-based Fortune 500 company has come to its senses about sinking millions into a neighborhood that has been in constant and steady decline for 30 years. Fact is, the old Bandito shops at “full-contact Krogers” on Wayne Avenue often and thinks this hood is fortunate to have a store at all considering the increasing amount of crime and mayhem that occurs in that zip code. And as far as the city designating that area “blighted,” the multitude of honest, hard-working folks who abandoned that area years ago have already hung that handle on the area. And the opinion of those folks, whose wages are purloined to pay for everything the city does, is the only opinion that matters. Gotta’ admit though, the old Bandito has a real weakness for the lunch special at Chef Leo’s Mexican-Chinese eatery at Wyoming and Illinois. Viva la egg rolls……….
