This weekend is the Greek Fest at the Greek Orthodox Church- right behind the Dayton Art Institute. Free to get in- cheap greek eats- and lots of Greek dancing- and did I mention baklava, spanikopita etc… It runs Friday, Saturday and Sunday. I’ll be there at some point- and so should you!
Out in Yellow Springs the AACW Blues Fest will be getting a boost from a local superstar: Dave Chappelle is inviting a few friends to hang out, Erykah Badu will take the stage Sunday night at 8pm- others who will appear are locally based Nerak Roth Patterson Band, Neo-soul singer Goapele and jazz musician Frederic Yonnet.
The fest was supposed to run Friday and Sat- but has gotten bigger and longer- Check out the African-American Cross Cultural Works site for more details: www.aacw.org [1] or call them at 937-767-9114
I’ll be there too-
If you don’t think it’s great in Dayton- you don’t get out much…
“If you don’t think it’s great in Dayton- you don’t get out much…”
I find myself saying something similar to this quite often. But the people that say there’s nothing to do in Dayton would be bored in any city. When I ask what it is they’d like to be doing they invariably have no answer. There’s actually too much going on to try to cover it all. People would be surprised to find what a lively place they live.
I will surely be there, yummy
I was at the Greek Fest today for lunch…it was packed. And of course, there were lots of good eats!
Well said Phillip. If it wasn’t for the Cheesecake Factory/Applebee’s/TGI Friday’s/chain-restaurant-of-choice and movie theaters, some people in this community wouldn’t have anything at all to do. How sad.
