Drive less, Live more.

The keynote speaker should be Leigh Allan, the former Dayton Daily News columnist who actually walked to work from Oakwood.

However, he wasn’t “positive” enough for the powers that be- (He thought the Riverscape fountains were stupid- imagine that!)- and got the boot.

But- a bunch of institutions in town want to have a “regional issues forum”- and we’re all invited:

one region…one vision…one future
The Miami Valley Regional Planning Commission [1], Five Rivers MetroParks, the Miami Conservancy District and the Greater Dayton Regional Transit Authority cordially invite you to attend the Regional Issues Forum featuring Chris Balish and Charles Gandy.

Chris Balish, author of How to Live Well Without Owning a Car [2], will show you how to save money, breathe easier and get more mileage out of life.

Charles Gandy, a national livable communities expert, will show local leaders how alternative transportation options can foster economic growth and sustainability.

(his site is under construction: http://www.livablecommunities.com/ [3])

Did anyone else go besides me?

The program didn’t end until aroun 9:30. I found it a fun and interesting presentation. I took a lot of notes but I need to get to bed. I’ll try and post a report later this week.
