A friend of mine writes a foodie blog in Cincy that’s pretty serious: Wine Me Dine Me Cincinnati [1], and she’s pretty serious about her reviews. If you are looking for the hot places to eat in Cincy, this is the site. She’s a big fan of independent local places and tries to avoid the chains. She’s also a big believer in “if you don’t have anything nice to say- talk about the decor or the service”- so, you can tell if the food is worth the trip with that little hint.
Dayton doesn’t have a foodie blog- but, I’m happy to see one that’s about dive places to eat. My favorites are Taqueria Mixteca on E. Third Street, The South Park Tavern [2] featuring Dayton’s Original Pizza Factory Pizza [3], Blind Bob’s [4], Jimmy’s Cornerstone, Tanks [5], etc…
Here is the Diving through Dayton intro:
This blog is to discuss the best restaurants in the Dayton region with a particular focus on the local dives. Living and working in the city of Dayton, and rarely traveling outside of the Dayton Region for work, allows me to visit a lot of local restaurants. I appreciate finding a dive restaurant that does something well and sharing that restaurant with other people.
Let’s be honest, this blog is a narcissistic platform for me to talk about all of the great meals that I eat.

Not a lot there yet, but he’s got Wa Fu written up [7], which has been around the corner from me for over 22 years. I don’t think there is cheaper Chinese this side of the Pacific- although my tastes run a little more gourmet when it comes to oriental cooking. Take a look, I’ve added it to my blog roll.
Just another Dayton Original doing his thing online to keep Dayton weird.

I’ll second that for Taquera Mixteca, and add two more; Slyders in Belmont has great Burgers, and The Red Carpet bar and tavern has great cabbage rolls .

Falbs at Chapel St. and Kiser, across from the Pepsi bottling plant. Get the breaded pork tenderloin and a brewski. Eat slowly, absorbing the strictly blue collar ambiance. You’ll be back. Long live the Old North………

Not a blog written by foodies, but there is a new site devoted entirely to local Dayton restaurants: [10]
Lisa Grigsby tipped me to that site yesterday. Lisa is the creator of the Dayton foodie social networking site: [11] That one is written by and for foodies, but also includes chains and franchise info.
There are quite a few of us working to spread the word about the local flavor! Very cool.
