There is a six way Democratic primary on May 5, 2026. I am out on the trail covering it and being part of it. I keep voters informed with what they need to know so they can make the best decision for themselves. I believe informed voters make better decisions. My message is simple: Think. Before you vote. I even have a sticker that says it.

I will not spam you daily with pleas for money. You will get useful updates when there is something worth your time.

What I am actually running to do

First, remove Trump and the politics of chaos. Everything else follows from restoring the rule of law and basic competence.

Second, bring back science, stability, and sanity to government. That means governing with evidence, telling the truth about tradeoffs, and rebuilding trust with allies, institutions, and the public.

Third, make government transparent and accountable, and make markets fair. End back room deals and corporate welfare disguised as “economic development.” Enforce real antitrust. Stop rigging systems against small business and working families.

If there is one thing I want you to know about my campaign versus the typical model, it is this. I was not selected in a back room to run. I will not build my campaign around out of state money. I will spend campaign dollars here in Ohio. I will not have billionaires backing me. Whether the Democratic Party embraces me is not up to me.

Some numbers to consider

In 2022, with about $40K and no presidential race on the ballot, compare my results to those of former Dayton Mayor Nan Whaley in her run for governor. [3] She had about $8M and full party support.

Montgomery County: Whaley 76,154. Esrati 74,650. That is a difference of 1,504 votes.
Greene County: Esrati 21,003 (31.94%). Whaley 20,367 (30.86%).
Clark County: Esrati 8,981 (38.69%). Whaley 12,559 (28.60%). In a gerrymandered county split across districts, Gary Josephson and I combined to outpoll her there.

Here is the point. Real reformers who have done the work for years can earn votes from independents and even Republicans. That matters if we are serious about winning.

And if you want a snapshot of what I actually do, not what I claim, I am in the Ohio Supreme Court right now fighting to remove felon Mike Foley from the Montgomery County Clerk of Courts office [4]. None of the usual resume lines are a substitute for taking on power when it counts.

Works for me. Good luck, David!

PS. Nan Whaley was investigated by the FBI and is politically toxic.

[7]

PSS. Her husband, Sam Braun, is also sketchy and a political backroom crony.

PSSS. Mike Turner hates Donald Trump, but is a cowardly GOP suck up. He needs to get off the fence and grow a pair (as one of his Facebook commenters posted).
