Base commanders come and go every two years, but, while granting that Col. Colleen Ryan is special, her appearing in the paper as much as she has lately can only mean one thing: She’s been chosen by the boys club to be the next Mayor of Dayton (sorry for the bad news David Sparks)
Col. Ryan honored by community [1]
Phil Parker, president of the Dayton Area Chamber of Commerce, called Ryan a “blessing” for the community.
She’s bought a house in the Oregon district already, and is tied in closely with the Dayton Development Coalition [2] and the Dayton Area Defense Contractors Association [3]. The chamber loves her- and I’m sure Clay Mathile can find room on the payroll at Aileron to keep her happy until next year when she’d have to face either McLin for her third term- or Dean Lovelace who wants his turn at the center chair before he bows out.
Ryan would raise the money in no time for a race- and the paper would back her in a minute. The real question is who will they pick to go with her? Remember the rule in Dayton politics is you must be able to count to three- and Matt Joseph, although he’d vote for anything she tells him to- isn’t going to start showing leadership anytime soon, and Joey Williams can’t continue to be a bank president and commissioner for too much longer.
Any thoughts on this?
Well, it’s certainly outside the box to have high ranking retired miltiary actually move IN to Dayton, if they stay in the area.
Most people affiliated with Wright-Patterson (there are always exceptions) avoid living in the city, or are steered away from doing so.
David: Never gave it much thought untill today, thanks for opening the door for me, as I need a boost in political logic every once in awhile. Let’s see if I read this correctly, Col. Ryan retires, moves in the Oregon District, and becomes Mayor. Big Mike, the guy who gave you a $100,000.00 to put a new roof on your house, the Mike who has a whiffy totally tied knee deep in the military awards. Which may mean Pork Barrel Mike may grease the pot for his whiffy, I mean wife, Mayor Ryan is just doing a take on the South Park Cha-Cha-Cha, it sounds like to me.
Dayton is going to have two employers the way it is heading, Whight-Pat, and the Medical Field. Will the last Union Millwright or Union Brother leaving Dayton, please turn the lights out?
Man, Ryan would be great for the City, as Mayor or as Council Member. So would Esrati.
Thanks John. Unfortunately, Ms. Ryan isn’t going to run. I can use all the support I can get. Please consider donating and volunteering for my campaign.
Can you please let me know if this is the col Coleen Ryan who was stationed at RAF Mildenhall, Suffolk, England.
