After being on the air for years, on many different stations, Clear Channel made another one of their stupid moves and fired Ann Steven from her “Breakfast with the Beatles” [1] Sunday Morning gig on WTUE 104.7
In the name of “cost saving” we just took another step away from having any local input on the radio. In case anyone still cares, radio has become as impersonal and homogenized as, well, white milk.
Skim white milk at that.
Gone are the days when radio “personalities” connected on a 1-to-1 basis with their audience. The only local exception that does it well- WDAO, with Michael Ecton and his “Expressions” show.
Hopefully, Ann will land somewhere else, and the Beatlenation can continue.
Until then, I’ll miss you Ann.

Sounds like someone doesn’t listen to public radio. WDPS, WYSO, and WDPR all have local people doing their own shows…but, yeah, these are niche markets.
But there’s nothing on like the dedication shows I used to listen to in California, like Caliente Y Sabroso on KVMR.
Actually I listen to WDPS everyday at work Jeff, but, the signal doesn’t make it very far, and the jocks talk way too much. As to WYSO- other than in the car, or with my good tuner, the reception is horrid. They may be talking- but, as to knowing the community- Ecton is the only one.
