This will be a short post, because, well, we all know there are no arrogant elected or appointed officials. (Sarcasm).
This week Fed Chair Jerome Powell showed that he has zero business as fed chair.
Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell said Tuesday that if the U.S. job market further strengthens in the coming months or inflation readings accelerate, the Fed might have to raise its benchmark interest rate higher than it now projects.
Powell’s remarks followed the government’s blockbuster report last week that employers added 517,000 jobs in January [1], nearly double December’s gain. The unemployment rate fell to its lowest level in 53 years, 3.4%.
“The reality is if we continue to get strong labor market reports or higher inflation reports, it might be the case that we have to raise rates more” than is now expected, Powell said in remarks to the Economic Club of Washington.

We’re as close to full employment as possible, and he’s not happy. Instead of going after anti-trust violations, profiteering corporations, collusion, price-fixing, and corporate malfeasance, he thinks sticking the poor with higher interest rates on their credit card debt, their car loans, their home loans- is somehow the answer.
The only possible explanation for his continued stupidity is that he wants to sink the Biden presidency. The reason for the record low unemployment and high hiring levels is because everyone now needs 2 or 3 jobs to pay the rent, buy groceries and pay the insane interest hikes he’s foisted on the little people.
If members of congress weren’t bought and sold by the companies that are scoring record profits, doing mass layoffs and self-serving stock buybacks, we’d have something like the Layoff Reduction Act of 2023 [3].

I signed up. When time came to login- no login. And when someone shared a login- I was promptly rejected. Organizer was John Tannous. I don’t recall him getting 104,000 votes for anything or winning a primary.
THE LOCAL PATRONAGE PROGRAM
Tonight the local Monarchy of Montgomery County Ohio, aka the Montgomery County Democratic Party will have a meeting at a new spot at 6:30; A different union hall: 6550 Poe Ave Dayton. There they will be appointing the replacement for Sarah Greathouse at the Board of Elections, who’s being kicked to the curb by the party after being a solid soldier for over a decade.
Four people supposedly interviewed, but the two front runners will be Dave Owens who’s been working at the BOE for decades. He’s the baby brother of former Dem Chair Mark Owens, and actually has experience and knowledge to be promoted into the position. The other is their favorite son- Russ Joseph, the older brother of Dayton City Commissioner Matt Joseph who worked for years under Chairman Mark at the Dayton Clerk of Courts before being elevated by appointment to Montgomery County Clerk of Courts when Greg Brush suddenly resigned. Russ lost his re-election to now under investigation Mike Foley, and then promptly got anointed again, this time Treasurer when Carolyn Rice replaced Dan Foley on the County Commission part way through her term. Russ promptly lost that election to Dem turned Republican John McManus. Then he quit, after losing his election, and then got a real government job with the Federal Courts- which he apparently doesn’t like- so this appointment would make his royal highness very happy.
Because, that’s how the friends and family plan works.
I’m not convinced McManus was ever actually a Democrat. Other than that, spot on.
Ohio Dems sound swampy.
“All Good Democrats Are Welcome”
Well, David – therein lies the problem. You’re not a good Democrat! Pretty crappy of them to do that to you though. Regardless of how the organizer may feel about you, he should not have “rejected” you at that meeting. But, you’re probably better off.
Unfortunately, the R’s are no better. Several years ago I was going to attend the annual Christmas party for the county party. The party was held at the business location for one of the party elite. I don’t remember exactly what the business was, but they were a distributor of some sort and the shipping guys were still working as the party attendees started showing up. Parking was limited and people were parking wherever they could which quickly started causing problems for the warehouse guy. I talked to him for a second and, being a former warehouse guy myself, tried to help him direct people to other parking that wouldn’t interfere with the trucks. People basically told me to F-off so after a while I gave up and went to the entrance to go to the party. As I was standing in line to get my nametag and to give them my donation envelope (which I decided to not put anything in) I looked at the room full of people – many of whom I recognized from when I worked downtown many years ago. It dawned on me that I really didn’t care for a lot of those people when I “knew them” many years ago so I said screw-it. I went back to my truck, called the wife and told her that I was heading out and bringing home dinner. Point of the story – screw the party faithful! LOL!
Remember what ol’ Groucho Marx said – “any organization that would want me as a member, I don’t want to be a part of!” :)

David, I really no longer see you as a Democrat. I think you are more of a left leaning Libertarian now that I think about it. You believe in the rule of law, you fight for peoples rights, you oppose the doctrine of the two party system and you believe that people have the right to do whatever they want, as long as it doesn’t affect the health, rights and well being of another human being. The Democrats are sending you a message, the same one they sent me. Democrats in Ohio and other states don’t want me on their campaigns so I left the Democratic Party, maybe you should too. Try the Forward Party. I sent them my resume. Maybe you should run as an Independent or join the Forward Party which is Organizing to get on the ballot in all 50 states by 2024. Just a suggestion.

I am not a republican- the entire republican party lost its mind when they backed Trump. Anyone who voted against the election results on Jan 6- should have been removed from office immediately.
As to the Forward Party- I like ranked choice voting. And, if that was the case, I probably wouldn’t be a democrat- since they won’t have me (never mind that Greene County Dems don’t seem to have a problem with election deniers like the Montgomery Dems do- and that Clark County doesn’t really seem to have a party – or they meet in secret).
Until Ohio realizes we don’t need 88 counties, or counties with 30 jurisdictions like Montgomery, or 608 school districts, and ESC’s and all these other banana republics- we’re stuck with the two parties who are in the minority of registered voters.
I’ll fight to fix this major problem until I die.
