It started long ago, not soon after I got to Dayton. The publisher got in a tiff about running gay personals, next thing you know, he’s out of a job.
Then Brad Tillson was a driving force behind “Inventing Flight”- the multi-million dollar boondoggle of 2003, and soon after the non-event he was retiring to “pursue other opportunities.”
Now we have news that Doug Franklin, who was part of the Dayton Development Coalition [1] board of Trustees that hired Lori Turner’s Turner Effect [2] on a no-bid contract, and then tried to defend the “Get Midwest” campaign- is heading South:

Doug Franklin, current president and chief executive officer of Cox Ohio Publishing and publisher of the Dayton Daily News, will be leaving March 31.Franklin has been named publisher of Palm Beach Newspapers in Florida. He will oversee 1,400 employees through the Palm Beach Post, Palm Beach Daily News, La Palma and the Penny Saver.
“I’m excited for the future professional opportunity I have in Florida,” Franklin said. “I’m going to miss my colleagues in Dayton. I’m confident that Cox Ohio will remain a strong media company with the team of leaders and employees we have.”
Mike Joseph, current senior vice president of business for Cox Ohio Publishing, will replace Franklin and be promoted to president and CEO of Cox Ohio Publishing and publisher of the Dayton Daily News.

The Palm Beach News is another Cox paper. He just got a transfer, that’s all.
