A donation challenge: time for a throw down.

So, if you haven’t already donated your max of $2,300 per cycle to my campaign (and no, none of you has)- Pam, has challenged you to start pledging- for the next 24 hours, she’ll match you dollar for dollar- up to $2,000.

UPDATE: She has extended the donation window till MIDNIGHT tonight, the 6th of February. We’ve taken $505 of her money so far.

This started in a comment [1]– now it’s official. And you have 23 hours to jump onto PayPal and pony up. $100 gets me $200.

And, note, I need at least $6000 to do a mailing, $3000 to do a phone call- and I’ve only got $1000 in the bank right now.

You can drop off checks at 100 Bonner Street Dayton OH 454510 [2]

I’m sure I could get a ton of money from Unions, PACs, special interest groups, or corporate lobbyists- but then, who would I be representing?

$10 get me $20, so go to Donate [3] now.

Thank you Pam. You are a true American Hero in my book.

Come on, OH-3! You’re not exactly putting me in the poorhouse! Rise to the challenge and help David out.

If a single mom can afford to put up $2000 in matching funds, some of you have GOT to be able to come up with 20 bucks.

18 hours left—and still LOTS of money in my piggybank. :-)

Juan

OK David, I’ll match the last contribution that I gave you. Give me the PayPal instructions so I can get this in before Pam’s 9:00 a.m. deadline on Wednesday morning. I don’t have time to get a check over to you by tomorrow.

And, if a single dad can afford to send David ANOTHER check, some of you have got to be able to come up with 20 bucks on your own. And I’m a fiscally conservative Libertarian that only agrees with David on about 1% of what he says! But, you’ve got to admire his hutzpah to go up against the establishment!

Pam

Damn. There goes my annual ski trip. ;-)

Thanks, Juan!

Andi

Hello Folk: Even though I have given to David’s campaign already and cannot really afford to give again, I gave tonoght because of the matching donation. Thank you Pam. Progressives need all of the help they can get. (Including me) However, right now this isn’t about me, it’s about David’s Primary. So for those of you who awaken and get on the website early, make a small contribution. Every penny helps.

Pam

Thanks Andi!

By the way, I still have money left, so I’ll extend the challenge until midnight tonight, but that’s it.

Juan

Don’t worry Pam – My donation won’t cut too deeply into the ski trip! ;) But, the point is, I donated. I’m sure David knows how lucky he is to have people like you that are willing to open their checkbooks for him. (By the way, my PayPal donation confirmation just showed up in my inbox)

$25 here and there can go a long way towards getting David through the primary. Current case in point is Mike Huckabee. His campaign has been mainly financed through $25 and $50 donations from Joe Average. So far he’s spent somewhere in the $5-7 million range and he’s giving Romney a run for his money (somewhere in the $80M range) and making McCain stand up and take notice. And like David, Huckabee is putting ads on YouTube (his “Chuck Norris is our Border Control Solution” ad is pretty doggone funny).

So, Run David Run!

PS- Pam, maybe if the contributors don’t eat into the entire $1000 you have available, you can take those of us that donated out for a drink! ;)

Pam

That’s a great idea, Juan.
In fact maybe we should have a little wine and cheese meet-up for the candidate.
I have a couple of bottles of 2 Buck Chuck I could open…
Of course with a name like Juan, you’d probably prefer some tequila.
So I should tell you in advance: I DRINK Patron, but I SERVE Cuervo.

Hey, I’m not THAT generous with my friends!
;-)

Juan

Oh, yeah – keep the good stuff for yourself! ;) But the important question is – what do you order on a date when HE’S paying? :)

A wine & cheese meat-up for David sounds like a great idea. Can you spearhead that? I could probably spare a couple of bottles of 4-Buck-Chuck (at least it’s 4 bucks in Dayton) myself.

By the way, I want to point out that today’s donation to David’s campaign was my SECOND donation and I won’t even be voting with the Democratic ballot in the primary! I donated because 1) I like David, 2) I admire his tenaciousness, and 3) I’d like to see an interesting campaign between now and March 3. So, step up to Pam’s challenge, folks! Dig deep and dig often!

Here is another donation, and another one for you to match Pam. I guess I counter-balance Juan, I’m the fiscally conservative Republican. My family walked with David last night to spread the word. Not too many have David’s passion, we can’t go wrong with a guy like him representing us. Come on people, donate.

Pam

Juan, let me get this straight…GUYS pay on dates????
Wow. What a concept. I had no idea. I think I’ve been dating the wrong guys!!
By the way, tequila of any type on a date is ALWAYS expensive.
That’s how I got my kid. ;-)

One wine and cheeser coming up. Details posted soon.

Pam

Thanks, Mr Z!
And nice meeting you the other night.
I’m really impressed with everything you’re doing for David.
We CAN make a difference!

Juan

>>> By the way, tequila of any type on a date is ALWAYS expensive.

ROFLMAO!! You are a funny gal! As far as guys NOT paying on dates – Isn’t that what the feminists have been fighting for all of these years!? ;)

Pam

You don’t have to sound so damn gleeful about bankrupting me, David. :-)

But he’s right, there’s money and time left. So cough up the cash, folks! I’ll start digging around for coins under the sofa cushions.

And Juan…I am a funny gal. But to tell you the truth, the kid was totally planned and no cacti were actually harmed in the production.

Pam

Half an hour left for all of you procrastinators out there!
And thanks again to everyone who already responded to the call.
I can’t wait to see how poor I am in the morning. :-)

gene

mailings are nice – tv works best – but I know it cost a lot. When is this election anyway?

Juan

hehe! Way to stay up on things Gene!!

I had heard on the radio Wednesday that there were people in non-voting states going to their polling places on “Super Tuesday.” I mentioned this to my 14 year old yesterday when we were talking about the election results. She said “Yeah, mom told me someone came to work (a polling place) yesterday and wanted to vote.” Kind of lends support to the notion that SOME people just shouldn’t vote! ;)
