When you don’t have time- quote

Running for office takes time and money. Since I’m not loaded, I’ve had to work twice as hard since March 4th to catch up. None of that matters to any of you- you just want something to read and argue about.

Google throws up little “webclips” at the top of the Gmail write window- and I saw this quote from Thomas Edison and thought right away about how Theresa Gasper maligned me and others for not loving and getting behind “Get Midwest”-

Discontent is the first necessity of progress.

There are other gems there-

Hell, there are no rules here – we’re trying to accomplish something.

I have not failed. I’ve just found 10,000 ways that won’t work.

If we did all the things we are capable of, we would literally astound ourselves.

Just because something doesn’t do what you planned it to do doesn’t mean it’s useless.

Non-violence leads to the highest ethics, which is the goal of all evolution. Until we stop harming all other living beings, we are still savages.

Restlessness is discontent and discontent is the first necessity of progress. Show me a thoroughly satisfied man and I will show you a failure.

There will one day spring from the brain of science a machine or force so fearful in its potentialities, so absolutely terrifying, that even man, the fighter, who will dare torture and death in order to inflict torture and death, will be appalled, and so abandon war forever.

Waste is worse than loss. The time is coming when every person who lays claim to ability will keep the question of waste before him constantly. The scope of thrift is limitless.

Our greatest weakness lies in giving up. The most certain way to succeed is always to try just one more time.

And just to make this all worth it- I’m running for either Mayor or Commission next year- party endorsement or not. It’s time to have some real debates. Because, as Edison said- if we aren’t discontented with what we have- we won’t have progress.
